I have a lump in my throat, but i can only feel it when i swallow, or exhale completely. Why?

I was sick the previous day, and now this is happening, it feels like its about right in between my adam's apple and where my collarbone meets. its mildly painful, can anyone help me to know, what it is, and how to fix it?
